Coleman Pants Suit Kimmel
So, about Gary Coleman's pants...
Jimmy Kimmel has 'em.
The late-night host will take possession of prized Coleman sweatpants on Tuesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live after securing the autographed wardrobe item for the bargain price of $500.
That's $399,500 under what the size 12XL-Regular Gap Kids athletic duds almost fetched on eBay.
One key difference: Kimmel's three-figure check cashed; the winning six-figure eBay bid never materialized.
Kimmel bought the pants last week after the pants seller—who turned out to be Coleman himself, a publicist for the show confirmed—posted negative feedback on eBay regarding the original would-be pants' buyer.
"Scammer! Never Responded! Risky Ebayer! Non-Buyer," went a vexed post credited to the eBayer known as brassonline.
Brassonline didn't ID himself during the auction (or to an inquiring reporter) as Coleman. And Kimmel, who spurred interest in the auction when he placed a bid of $80 on Jan. 10, initially didn't know he was dealing with the former child star, the show publicist said.
Neither brassonline, nor dfwgixxer, the name on the eBay account from whence the eyebrow-raising $400,000 bid came, responded to emails for comment.
According to an eBay profile page, dfwgixxer had a spotless feedback record prior to the pants auction, which closed Jan. 17: 128 positive comments; zero negatives.
Brassonline, by the way, has a 100 percent positive feedback score.
Coleman, however, was less than responsive when it came to dealing with Jimmy Kimmel Live. The publicist said the Diff'rent Strokes star, who turns 40 on Feb. 8, didn't return calls about possibly appearing on the program.
In any case, his pants will be there. Bought and paid for.
