Sophie's choice? More like Kelsey's choice.

Yes, it's true, Kelsey Grammer is really trying to split his family in two, proposing a one-for-me, one-for-you new custody arrangement that has sent ex-wife Camille Grammer scrambling to keep her kids together.

Here's how Kelsey's plan would work...

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Kelsey wants primary physical custody of 6-year-old son Jude, who would go live with the erstwhile Frasier and new wife Kayte Walsh in Chicago. Meanwhile, per the docs, 9-year-old daughter Mason would remain under the care of Camille in California.

He further proposes they share joint legal custody of both kids, with each parent having both children one weekend per month, provided they are both in the country. He also suggested that Camille have custody of both kids on Mother's Day and him on Father's Day and that both kids visit each parent at once for a full month each summer.

But Camille, who originally wasn't interested in playing hardball, went into protective mom mode and fired back yesterday with her own motion that both kids live primarily with her.

There was no immediate comment from Kelsey's lawyer, but he did tell TMZ earlier that the idea of separate the kids was "inaccurate"—however, that was before the documents surfaced with Kelsey's plan in ink.

Kelsey's publicist, meanwhile, declined to comment on the particulars of the custody battle. Instead, he accuses Camille of not playing fair.

"Despite the fact that those connected with Camille Grammer seem to be hand delivering confidential documents to TMZ and other media outlets, we will continue to not make public statements about their private matters which can and apparently does beg for misinterpretation," rep Stan Rosenfeld tells E! News. "There is no valid reason to drag the Grammer children into any media spotlight."

The now estranged exes were married for 13 years before Camille filed for divorce last July. Kelsey remarried in February.

There is a hearing set in this custody battle on June 9. And we have a feeling this battle is about to get vicious.
