Juliette Lewis has just survived a scare worse than Robert De Niro in Cape Fear.

The singer-actress (and former Brad Pitt squeeze) was briefly hospitalized Wednesday night in Burbank, Calif., after another driver broadsided her Lincoln Town Car and then fled the scene of the accident.

The Town Car ended up being totaled. But how was Lewis?

"Ms. Lewis complained about pain to her back and neck and back of her head and had bruising on her arm," says Burbank Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Quesada.

Luckily, the 37-year-old star luckily suffered only minor scrapes and bruises.

"Ms. Lewis went to the hospital to be checked out and is a bit banged up and sore but otherwise thankfully OK. She is now resting at home," her rep tells E! News.

The accident took place just after 10 p.m., as she was being shuttled home from an event for her latest flick, Conviction, when a Honda plowed into her car at an intersection.

"That vehicle took off," says Quesada. Cops discovered the unidentified driver had ditched the Honda a few blocks away.

"It has since been impounded, and they're trying to track down the registered owner and then determine who was behind the wheel."

If found, the driver faces a felony hit-and-run charge.
