Tiger Woods is trying to ace this whole comeback thing.

In a blog post today on his website, the golfer addressed what it was like seeing his first tournament action since his detour from the public eye in the wake of a car crash, parade of alleged mistresses and stint in sex-addict treatment.

"I have to say it felt great to return to competition at the Masters Tournament," Woods wrote. "To actually contend in a major on the back nine Sunday and tie for fourth with very little preparation, with all that has transpired in my life, was pretty cool."

As for wife Elin...

Well, there's really no mention of the missus. She did not accompany him to Augusta and has not been anywhere near Woods for weeks. Subsequently, he didn't have anything to say about her directly in his post.

But what about those fans!

"I honestly didn't know what to expect from the fans, but they were absolutely incredible from Monday through Sunday. It was unreal," he added. "They definitely helped me mentally to be more comfortable out there. I was hoping for the best. To get that type of warmth is something I did not expect and will never forget."

One memory stood out in particular: In the gallery, which also included his mom and a few other people he knew, was a little girl who handed him a letter on the third tee. No word what the letter said but the sports icon called her gesture "awfully sweet."

As for his performance? Well, old habits die hard.

"I received some criticism for bad language, which I apologized for immediately after Saturday's round," Wood said. "It's tough when you're in a competitive environment and in the flow of a tournament. I'm not perfect. All I can say is I'm trying to do everything I can without losing my fire and competitive spirit."

He concludes by noting "I took a little time off after the Masters to go scuba diving and spend time with my family."

Given he and Elin have barely been in the same state for the past few months, and she definitely didn't go scuba diving, we wonder what part of family he's referring to.
