What's a guy need to do to get to White Castle these days?!

Kal Penn, the once and future Harold & Kumar star who toils for the White House in between acting gigs, was robbed at gunpoint early this morning in the nation's capital.

And for those keeping track at home: Yes, today just happens to be stoner's holiday of 4/20. Coincidence?

The actor, who turns 33 on Thursday, was walking in a Washington, D.C., neighborhood at approximately 1:20 a.m. when he was confronted by an unidentified man with a gun, who shook him down his wallet and other items.

Authorities did not release any information regarding the holdup, but the incident was confirmed by his publicist.

No word on Neil Patrick Harris' whereabouts...

Penn is finishing up his work for the Obama administration as associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, serving as an Indian-American community liaison.

He is expected to leave in the coming weeks to reprise his role as Kumar in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas.
