At least Tiger Woods cleared up one thing during his press conference at the Masters today: Wife Elin Nordegren won't be attending.
The otherwise-sedate exchange with media—the comeback-minded golfer's first real one since his Thanksgiving escapades—offered relatively few other revelations.
Perhaps the most poignant was when Woods talked about what he lost thanks to what he's called his "irresponsibility and selfish behavior." While he did spend Christmas with his family, he was forced to miss son Charlie's first birthday.
"That hurts. It hurts a lot," Woods confessed. "I vowed I'd never miss another one."
Beyond that, the embattled golfer largely stuck to the same script as his Golf Channel and ESPN Q&As a few weeks ago. Well, except for one thing that probably has some of his competitors rejoicing.
"Winning golf tournaments is irrelevant compared to the damage I've caused," he said.
Later, however, he admitted he wants to win and that he's enjoying being on the course more than he has over the past few years.
"It feels fun again. That's something that's been missing," he says of his sport. "When you're living a life where you're lying all the time, life's not fun."
Woods, who arrived in August, Ga., on Sunday without his family, also promised that while he's no longer in rehab, his therapy treatments and the work he's doing on himself won't be stopping anytime soon.
