Coming Soon: The Farrah Diaries

Let's hope, for Farrah Fawcett's sake, the expected wave of Michael Jackson exposés doesn't drown her out at the register.

The Charlie's Angels star's close confidante Alana Stewart has unveiled plans to publish a diary she kept that chronicles Fawcett's brave battle with anal cancer, which the '70s pinup lost on June 25 at the age of 62.

But is she cashing in?

The memoir, entitled My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love, and Friendship, hits bookstores Aug. 11 courtesy of publisher William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the tome will go toward the Farrah Fawcett Foundation for cancer research.

That's a good thing, otherwise skeptics might surely wonder whether Stewart was trying to profit off her best pal's passing. The actress and ex-wife of actor George Hamilton and rocker Rod Stewart stood by Fawcett's side throughout her ordeal and was there at the end, along with the dying thesp's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal.

"Farrah had originally encouraged me to write this book—it was her idea," she said in a statement released by the publisher. "My hope is that people will find this book to be a heartfelt tribute to my friend of 30 years and her valiant fight against cancer."

Stewart also was responsible for filming the two-hour documentary TV special Farrah's Story, in which Fawcett candidly discussed her struggle. It aired on NBC in May.
