American Idol's Top 12 is now down to 11...and they haven't even performed this week!

Twenty-five-year-old contestant Jermaine Jones, who is often referred to as the "gentle giant" by host Ryan Seacrest, tweeted that he's leaving the show, the Washington Post reports.

So why is Jones leaving? And what is he saying about the situation on Twitter?

"Awww I will no longer b on the show," Jones tweeted from his official Idol account, but deleted the message soon after.

A spokesperson for Fox declined to comment on Jones' reported ousting, but TMZ says the singer is getting disqualified for lying to producers about his alleged criminal past. Jones was reportedly confronted about the situation on-camera and the footage will be shown during tomorrow night's performance show.

In 2011, the singer was reportedly charged with two crimes; Jones allegedly gave a fake name to the cops during both arrests.

Jones was originally eliminated from the competition when the judges narrowed the field down to 24 contestants, but the trio had a change of heart and brought him back for the Top 24. From there, he was voted into the Top 13 by TV watchers before finding himself in danger of elimination last week. Jeremy Rosado ended up going home.

Are you shocked to hear Jones is leaving the competition? Was he one of your favorites? Sound off in the comments!
