Katy Perry is the one who got away—from the People's Choice Awards.

The "Firework" hit maker just announced...

She's decided to skip the big show on Wednesday night.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," she tweeted. "I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

The night was to be Perry's first public appearance since she and Russell Brand split just before New Year's.

Perry, who is up for seven People's Choice Awards, didn't tweet a reason why she's not longer attending. Her rep also declined to comment.

Perry recently returned to Twitter from some understandable time off. She thanked her fans for making her "heart happy again," while also dismissing any gossip about her.

"I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me," she tweeted. "Not a blog, magazine, "close sources" or my family."

She has two concerts scheduled in Indonesia on Jan.19 and 22.
