Gary Dourdan's very own crime scene investigation has just landed him in some serious doo-doo.

The soon-to-be-former CSI star was slapped with three drug-related felonies today stemming from last week's bust in Palm Springs, E! News has learned.

Identified by his legal name, Robert Gary Durdin, the 41-year-old actor was rung up on three counts of possession of a controlled substance after getting caught with heroin, cocaine and Ecstasy, Riverside District Attorney spokesman Michael Jeandron said. (View the criminal complaint.)

Although the charges carry maximum penalties that include prison time, the actor would likely avoid the slammer by enrolling in a drug-diversion program if convicted.

"Upon successful completion of such a drug-treatment program, the charges could be dismissed," Jeandron said, citing California's Proposition 36.

Palm Springs police found Dourdan sleeping behind the wheel of his car on the side of the road about 5:12 a.m. on April 28, hours after attending the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Per the police report, Dourdan appeared "disoriented" and under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. A search of the vehicle turned up cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, a number of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Dourdan was taken in and booked for possession of narcotics and possession of dangerous drugs. He was released several hours later on $5,000 bail.

In an email to a friend at Access Hollywood that was leaked over the weekend, Dourdan said he had pulled over to "prevent a DUI."

"I recommend not driving at all, but a little kip [nap] is always good (on either side of the road LOL)." He also insisted, "The luggage carrying whatever they found was not mine and my tests have been coming back negative."

"I've been happy to cooperate in any way to clear myself and go on with my blessed life."

Dourdan's eight-season stint playing pill-popping analyst Warwick Brown on CSI came to an end several weeks ago, after his reps and CBS failed to agree on a contract extension.

His final appearance on CSI is May 15. His next court date in the drug case is May 28.
