Watch: Cody Simpson Says Being Single Is "Great"

Cody Simpson doesn't mind being single.

In fact, Gigi Hadid's ex-boyfriend told E! News Tuesday being unattached is actually pretty "rad."

"I'm 18 years old, and I'm sort of going through that time in my life where I'm like a different person every week," said the Australian  singer, who looked too cute in a Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren ensemble. "You know, when you're going through the phases of being young and discovering yourself and uncovering all the layers, basically."

"Being by myself has just freed up space for me to actually by myself as opposite to half of somebody else," he explained.

The relationship "had been so publicized," Cody said, and all of the attention that comes with being in such a high-profile romance can be stressful. "Being by myself is great because I can be low-key...[I can] focus on my music, I'm taking up film and photography, skateboarding..."

Of course, Cody and Gigi, 20, split on good terms—as the model's rep told E! News when they broke up, they "remain friends with no hard feelings and each others's biggest supporters." Post-breakup, Cody's sister Alli Simpson told E! News that her brother and Gigi still "care about each other immensely" and even continue to see each other's families.

But when all's said and done, does Cody regret having been involved in a long-term relationship at such a young age? Watch the clip above to find out!

Plus, tune in to E! News Wednesday at 7 and 11 p.m. to hear much more from Cody about his newly single status!
