Nicole Kidman Says Keith Urban "Literally Carried" Her After Father's Death: "I'll Do Anything for That Man''

Wanna get Nicole Kidman to smile? Just ask her about husband Keith Urban.

In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that aired on Wednesday, the 47-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who has often praised the country star and American Idol judge in the press, revealed the "amazing" way he supported her as she mourned the loss of her father.

Nicole's dad, Tony Kidmandied last month after suffering a fall in a hotel room in Singapore, while he was visiting her sister. Following the devastating news, Urban canceled one of his concerts and rushed to his wife's side.

"I have to say—I love saying this because he should be, you know, just adored—and he has been so good to me, you know, for nine years, but for the last sort of month, which has been a really tough time for me, when you have your partner who just literally carries you through a tough time…and he's been amazing to me," Nicole said.

"I recently lost my father and to have my husband...just step up, you know, in that way, it makes me cry," she said. "He's amazing. And literally, at times...to be literally carried by your partner, physically at times, because I was so devastated, it's just like, 'I'll do anything for that man.'"

Nicole told InStyle magazine in an interview published in its March 2014 issue that Urban, who is often touring or filming American Idolleaves her a love letter "for every single night he's away."

"I write him things, too!" the actress told Ellen DeGeneres, laughing.

Nicole is also occasionally away from home, promoting her films. Her newest, the thriller Before I Go to Sleep, hits theaters on Friday, on Halloween.

Urban, 47, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last year that he and Kidman communicate by phone while they are apart, with the exception of...sexting.

The two have also expressed their adoration for one another in the press and in public before. In a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair, the actress called the singer her "great love." This past summer, at one of his concerts, Urban gave his wife a shout-out, saying, "Eight years, baby girl. This song is for you. I love you so much."

He and Nicole, who share two daughters, wed in 2006, about five years after the actress' divorce from first husband Tom Cruise, with whom she shares two adopted children. The actress recently said in an interview with a radio station in Australia, where she was raised, that she hoped to get pregnant again. She recently said in an interview with E! News that "the chances of it are very slim, but hey, I'd be blessed."
