It's time. We made it. After months of waiting, it's finally here.

Supernatural season 10 premieres tonight!

Yeah, we're just as excited as you are to spend our night with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles). (No, not like that. Okay, maybe a little like that!)

So much went down in the season nine finale, from Dean dying and coming back as a demon (without Sam's knowledge!) to Castiel's fading human grace, and we have so many questions about what's coming up this season. To try and get some answers, we went straight to the Supernatural boss, executive producer Jeremy Carver, for all the scoop on season 10.

And he more than obliged, spilling all the details on Sam's dark journey as he searches for Dean to finally proving one major fan theory about Castiel's (Misha Collins) vessel and so much more!

E! News: The CW released a first look clip from the season 10 premiere that showed Sam torturing a demon for information, and he was so angry and ruthless that for a second, we forgot that Dean was the Winchester that turned into a demon! Are we going to see Sam get even darker than that?
Jeremy Carver: You will see him get darker than that. That was a taste. It's all organized around one very central want: he wants to find his brother. It's in contrast to season eight when Dean disappeared and was in Purgatory, and Sam had a much different reaction at the time where he was burnt out and he was exasperated and didn't know where to look for his brother and he made a pretty seismic decision not to look for his brother and to essentially drop out of hunting. Based on where they come from at that point, and especially where they ended last season, Sam very much has a different mindset and a much stronger desire, and frankly need, to find his brother and make sure that he's OK. That will lead him to do certain things that are maybe not at the time when Sam was doing them as obviously dark as they will be exposed to be when he has to face up to them later.

When Sam and Dean finally do meet up and have their first official confrontation as hunter vs. demon, do you think one of them truly has it in him to kill the other brother?
That's the central question, isn't it? As dark as you go, is there anything left in you that could make you kill your brother? That's something that both brothers will have to confront early on in the season when they finally do come head to head. Each brother is very much going to have to answer that question of, ‘What am I willing to do here?' and they will debate that.

I know we're going to meet an older version of Claire Novak, a.k.a. Castiel's vessel Jimmy's daughter. Why are we going to meet up with her after all these years?
The why is attached to a larger arc that Castiel is going through this year. We're all very excited about it. Cas is still not well and this leads him down something of a different journey than he had last year and it causes him to reexamine his time here on Earth, the mission of the angels and frankly what the point of it all is. That will lead him on an extremely personal journey of which a grown-up Claire Novak will be a part.

Since Cas is inhabiting her father's body who she thinks is dead, what can you tease about how Cas and Claire's interactions will go? Is Jimmy still alive?
He is in the body of her father who is no longer alive, and he essentially killed her father and took his body, so you can imagine how their interaction starts. I don't think there's a lot of goodwill at the start except the feelings go a lot deeper and they're a lot more complicated than that.

For the 200th episode this season, since the whole episode revolves around Chuck Shirley's books, are we going to see him again after five seasons of wondering where he went?
We're definitely going to see a whole host of fan favorites in a very unique way that we're all excited about. The books are very much referenced and a part of it so even folks who aren't in the episode are very much given shout-outs, as it were. There's a lot of love being spread around.

Even though Sam and Dean have both died so many times in the past, each new time (like Dean dying and becoming a demon) is still so heartbreaking. Do you have a favorite death that will always stick out in your mind as the most heartbreaking or memorable?
This is going to sound crazy, but there's an episode I wrote called "Mystery Spot," and it was a lot of fun to write it. There's a lot of drama in it in the idea of Sam having to watch his brother die so many times. It wasn't until I watched the episode that it really hit me just how devastating that was. It was like hundreds of thousands of times having to watch this, and that was a pretty heavy one for me to watch.

What are you most excited for fans to see from this season?
We're telling really personal stories this year. We've had seasons past where the fate of the world was at stake and those are always good and they always have their time and their place, but it feels like this season in very personal ways, and it feels cheesy saying this, but the fate of our characters is at stake. These people really have to decide who they are and they're going to have to make very big decisions. There's been certain alliances and bromances and romances that have cropped up in the last several seasons and at a certain point, someone is going to call foul on this and say, ‘What are we doing here? Humans and angels and demons, this is not the way it's supposed to be. It's not the way to be the best at what you want to be.' People are going to have to make some really hard choices, possibly turning their backs or take even stronger actions on those who they may have made alliances with in the past. This time it's personal.

Supernatural premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on The CW.
