Maybe Ryan Seacrest should keep his day job(s).
After months of pleading on Randy Jackson's behalf, the American Idol host sang a few bars during Wednesday's live finale. "All season I've been trying to get our star quarterback, Mr. Ryan Seacrest, to sing a little something for us," Jackson said. "And now, I've got his whole family on board with it!"
The KIIS-FM radio host's parents and sister joined Jackson in the audience before he took the stage. "Randy, it took a lot of convincing to get him to agree to sing a song from his very first concert in Atlanta: Richard Marx," Ryan's mom, Connie, said. "I remember driving him to the Fox Theater."
Connie then introduced her son, who performed the musician's 1989 hit "Right Here Waiting." Marx himself played the piano and even sang a few lines, but he let Seacrest stand in the spotlight for a change. Judges Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban gave them a standing ovation.
After his singing debut, Lopez congratulated Seacrest, tweeting, "You killed it @RyanSeacrest!!" The 39-year-old TV producer replied, "by 'it' you mean the pentatonic scale right?? ha thnk u jen."
When a Twitter user wrote, "Ryan Seacrest can sing?," he retweeted the message and added, "Debatable."
Give yourself some credit, Ryan! You may not have winner Caleb Johnson's pipes, but you're not half-bad!
