This may come as a surprise, but Gisele Bündchen knows a lot about food.

In fact, the supermodel is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and works on behalf of the UN's "Think. Eat. Save" campaign.

"You know that 40 percent of the food in the United States gets thrown away because it doesn't look a certain way," Tom Brady's wife said on the Today show on Thursday, Sept. 19.  "It's crazy, just because the apple is not the right size or the carrot is not straight enough it just doesn't get accepted. So, amazing delicious food gets thrown away because it doesn't look a certain way."

The beauty compared the appearance of fruits and vegetables to people.

"I mean none of us here look the same, she explained. "We are part of nature."

Gisele appeared alongside French chef Eric Ripert and the duo whipped up some chicken recipes using one whole chicken.
