Chris Brown's attorney doesn't like what he's hearing. To put it mildly.

In response to paperwork filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court challenging the validity of the records of Brown's community labor that he was supposed to perform as part of his sentence for assaulting Rihanna, attorney Mark Geragos is promising to fight back.

He plans to ask a judge to sanction the L.A. District Attorney's Office and has encouraged Virginia's Richmond Police Department, which allowed Brown to work off his punishment under their jurisdiction, to take legal action against prosecutors over their accusation that Brown falsified his service records.

"Apparently the district attorney's office has completely lost their minds," Geragos told the Los Angeles Times. "They are making scurrilous, libelous and defamatory statements and apparently have lost their ability to read their own reports."

The D.A. "should be embarrassed" to suggest that Brown didn't do exactly what was detailed in his probation reports and signed off on by Virginia authorities, the lawyer added.

Richmond police told the Times it would be "inappropriate to comment on a matter before the court."

Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault for beating on Rihanna in 2009 and was sentenced to five years' probation, 180 days of community labor and an anti-domestic violence program.

He showed off a certificate of completion for the domestic-violence course in December 2010.
