Comic fans, rejoice!

Marvel announced Saturday at New York Comic-Con that veteran character-actor Clark Gregg is set to reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson in Joss Whedon's upcoming ABC adaptation of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Clark has played the member of the elite task force numerous times in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and he even voiced the role in Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man

The ABC pilot is based on the Jack Kirby-created comic that revolves around the secret military law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate) and brings Agent Phil Coulson back to life after he died in The Avengers. Coming back from the dead? Not that's a super power.

S.H.I.E.L.D will be produced by brothers Joss Whedon and Jed Whedon, along with Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
